Emergency Telephone System Board
The Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) of Will County is established pursuant to Section 15.4 of the Illinois Emergency Telephone System Act (50 ILCS 750). As defined by County Ordinance, the Board consists of 12 appointed members who are selected by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Board.
The Board is composed of:
(1) One representative from the Will County Board
(2) One representative from the Will County Executive Office
(3) One representative from the Will County Emergency Management Agency
(4) The Will County ICT Department Director, who serves as Chair of the ETSB Technology Advisory Committee
(5) One citizen at-large residing within the area served by the Will County ETSB
(6–8) One representative from each of the three Will County 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs): Joliet Communications, Laraway Communications Center, and Western Will County Communications Center
(9–10) Two representatives from countywide fire services, nominated by the Will County Fire Chiefs’ Association
(11–12) Two representatives from countywide law enforcement services, nominated by the Police Chiefs’ Association of Will County
The Will County ETSB oversees the Next Generation 911 system serving residents of Will County, as well as portions of Cook, Kendall, and Grundy counties. This advanced system is a vital public safety tool, enabling rapid and effective response to emergency service requests.
The ETSB is funded through 9-1-1 surcharge revenues collected from wireline and wireless telephone services.
